Can't save to documents folder

Michael Savich 11 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 11 years ago 2

When I try to save a file to the Documents folder, I get an error stating that the document can not be saved because the folder does not exist. The document saves fine to iCloud and Desktops, but I didn't test any other folders. Also, it seems that it doesn't matter whether the folder is selected from recent or the normal location in the pop-up. (Also, I'm running OS X 10.9)

Answer

Mavericks changed the behavior of the save panel which caused this issue.

It will be fixed in the next update.

Collaborative Editing

ylluminate 10 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 10 years ago 1
I'm an enormous TextMate and emacs fan (been using emacs since the late 90s and have fought a good fight in the vi vs emacs battle front ;) ), but I would shift over to Textstatic in a heart beat if you'd facilitate collaborative editing for us.  I find myself *frequently* wanting to collaborate with other members of my team and family in various coding and simple text editing projects.  I am not very fond of existing solutions that I've evaluated and would very much like to see something that brings the goodness of TextMate into this realm.

I want the ability to define/create/remove languages Syntax Highlighting.

sylvoie 10 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 10 years ago 1
I need more freedom in definition of language Syntax highlighting.

1- I want to decide which languages Syntax Highlighting I need.

2- I want to have the ability to add my own languages Syntax Highlighting files. I have a "dbase" one for Ultraedit and I know, it isn't popular. I can convert to Textastic languages Syntax Highlighting.

You can take a look to UltraEdit Language Syntax Highlighting. The community participate actively to create languages Syntax Highlighting files, and shared them to others.

Thanks

I often want to preview an html file I'm working on. Would like an option in the file menu to simply open the current file in a browser.

File close issue

Ian C 11 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 11 years ago 0

With the latest Textastic for Mac (2.0 (14)), if I edit a file on a mounted DMG, close the file in Textastic, then try to unmount the DMG, the OS says the volume can't be unmounted because it is in use by Textastic, even though I have closed the file. The only way to unmount the volume is to quit Textastic entirely.

Answer
This will be fixed in the next update.

Implement a scripting language.

http://playcontrol.net/opensource/LuaCocoa/ -- implementing a flexible, easy to learn scripting language, and exposing the editor state would allow many of the smaller requests be implemented by the end-users themselves.

Some needed features...

Jordan Arenstein 12 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 12 years ago 1

This is a fabulous app, I'm loving it, and really enjoying the look and feel except for a few slight annoyances...

1. Windows, windows, and more windows:

When editing more than three files, screen space gets cramped way too quickly. I suggest a tabbed interface (+ swapping shortcuts)

2. Auto-complete is a hassle:

I strongly dislike the system of having to press the enter key to send auto-complete. I much prefer the using the tab key. Maybe could you add a setting to toggle it between enter and tab to not confuse other users?

3. I need my other half!:

It would be fabulous to be able to auto-complete pairs of braces and quotation marks!

But on the positive side, I love some of the features (Version history to be precise! Its really a pleasure to use, but maybe a bit difficult to navigate...)

Now I'm going "all in" to use it for my frontend development. But, when you have nothing else to do ;) I would really like to have fuzzy file search in the desktop version. :=)
