Emacs Like Editing

David Loeffler 12 years ago updated by Lee R. Boynton 8 years ago 4

I found ^A and ^E work but ^K does not. Any reason not to include the full set of emacs key bindings that the standard Mac editors, like TextEdit, include?

I would love the ability to edit RTF files similar to how you can in TextEdit.

How to invoke code completion in Fortran?

Li Dong 12 years ago updated 12 years ago 3

How can I accomplish code completion task in Fortran? By entering what keys? I see nowhere is an instruction, and the manual is too brief!

Despite some frustration, Textastic looks very nice! I have faith on it, keep going! : )

tab size vs indent size?

Brandon Fosdick 12 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 12 years ago 3

I'm looking for a simple text editor that knows the difference between tab size and indent size and, ideally, can prefer tabs over spaces. ST2/3 and TextMate2 don't seem to be up to the task. Can Textastic do what I want?

Wrap line where it started

LeFrank 12 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 12 years ago 1

Would it be possible to have an option to wrap lines where they started, like an outliner basically.

I know about the 'indent wrapped lines' option, it's basically what I'm looking for, but  without the additional indent part.

Many thanks for considering it.

Can I preview HTML, CSS, JavaScript like on iPad on my new Mac?

Johne1 2 weeks ago updated 2 weeks ago 2

Hi Alexander,

I love Textastic on the iPad. Especially how I can preview my Web code results within Textastic.

I'm missing Textastic on my new Mac. Does Textastic support preview on the Mac, too?

I sure hope the answer is yes.

John

Regardless of syntax chosen or file extension manually applied, Textastic saves as .txt

Magnus Westerberg 2 months ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 2 months ago 3

Regardless of what kind of file I open - what syntax it has - or what kind of file I create from scratch - what syntax I choose after opening a new file - Textastic saves the file with the .txt extension. And even if I manually change the file name to have the correct file extension for its syntax (for instance test.md), Textastic adds the .txt extension anyway (test.md.txt)

This on lates macOS and latest version of Textastic

Does it need to purchase separate licenses for MacOS, iOS, iPadOS?

DeJu 2 months ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 2 months ago 1
I tried to use it on my Macos, and I would like to use it on my iPhone and iPad.
Should I buy separate license for all devices?

User manual is sparse... The interface is nothing like the IPAD interface.

I purchased because I thought I'd be able to create fully functional web pages and debug in the app. The interface isn't close to the IPAD interface. It seems like it's just an editor.

Do you support any settings JSON files for editor behavior, for instance the way Sublime Text does, somewhat like TextMate?

Ed Fallin 5 months ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 5 months ago 2

On the Mac, I like to use multiple cursors, not see angry red bands across the screen when I happen to have "invalid" syntax temporarily, and other things.  I happen to have three text editors (including an IDE) because I'm picky.  I'm hoping Textastic supports the same thing as Sublime Text so I can have the editing experience I want, and easily.
