Custom extensions from syntax themes and opening all extensions

Hans Schülein 7 years ago in General updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 7 years ago 1

There are quite a few suggestions already concerning this, but none 100% like this:

I installed a new syntax definition via the described process. It theoretically works, however I cannot open any file of that type, even though described in the .tmLanguage file. For this reason Kodex has a switch to open any extension, something Textastic is unable to do. This is really frustrating. I hope both those features (extension from language file, all extensions possible) get implemented. Otherwise custom language syntax is pretty useless.

Feature Request: Choose Default Screen

joncom 7 years ago in General updated 7 years ago 2

I’m almost always editing the same files. So it would be a nicer experience if, when starting up the app, there was an option for it to default to “recent files” instead of “local files”.

To make matters slightly worse, all the files I edit are external, not local, so currently the app likes to show me an empty folder on startup, and then I have to navigate “up” and into “recent files”. Not a big deal, but I have to do it a lot!! Would just make the app more polished I think.

Stop auto-adding period when double-spacing

david allie 7 years ago in General updated by ajcullum 5 years ago 5

Aside from using Textastic for coding, I like to use it for keeping .txt files for simple notes. I’ve noticed that whenever I (on purpose) enter two or more spaces (e.g. to create a simple column table), a period is auto-added in the the first position of two spaces. This is annoying... seems more appropriate to a word processor than a code/text editor... and I wish there was a setting/preference to allow me to enable/disable this action.

Support for R markdown files (.Rmd)

nosce mantele 7 years ago in General updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 7 years ago 1

Just bought Textastic and it’s looking like it will be quite useful for allowing me to edit code/text files on the go. I just noticed that it does not recognize R markdown files (.Rmd) but it seems to handle these files fine if I change the suffix to .mdown in Dropbox. It’s great that I can edit the files on my iPad but annoying that I have to change the file suffix to do so.

(Also might be nice to have support for bibliography files like .bib)

Folder Search Functionality

Ara Adkins 7 years ago in General updated 7 years ago 2

When opening external folders for editing in Textastic they can contain a lot of different files. It would be great to be able to search within these folders for particular files.

Ideally, this feature would extend to both the 'Local' and 'iCloud' locations as well.

Updated syntax highlighting

It seems that HTML and CSS highlighting is out of date. Examples: main (html), css-grid, and flexbox.

Support for per file search with retain of scrolling of the search result

puccet 8 years ago in General 0

It woukd be great to have per file search features, i have ioften to search different things in different files but related, for example occurrences for tag in log files and then timestamp of the found tag in another data file, but when switching between files the search feature is shared so i have to insert again the search any time, even worst when switching the search results list is always scrolled back to top it would be great if it retain the scrolled position and show the line numbers of the found string.

"Workflow" app - integration

Cecil Ward 8 years ago in General updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 8 years ago 1

I would love it if you could look into exploring ways for more integration with the Workflow iOS app. Could you maybe think about possibilities? I would like to be able to get access to my Textastic documents from within Workflow scripts, and I would also like to be able to automate opening Textastic with particular files passed by Workflow and passing edited files back into Workflow. That way I could use Textastic as part of a task automation.

Any ideas?

Best,

Cecil Ward
