Hard wrap

cjp 5 years ago in General 0

Add an option, potentially configurable based on file type, to hard wrap text (that is, insert an actual newline) prior to a certain column.

iOS file system

Martin Graf 5 years ago in General updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 5 years ago 1

When trying to open a folder from some apps (which have file system integration) the following errors occur on my iPhone and iPad (iOS 12.1.3):

OneDrive: Textastic tries to open folders as files (and does not display anything in this file then)

Nextcloud: Textastic takes no action (not even a warning message) when trying to open a folder

Opening just files from those file providers works perfectly fine.

It would be really nice if this bug was fixed.

jpg not imported correctly

Vic Riley 6 years ago in General updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 6 years ago 3

Hi, Alexander - When I import a jpg file to a folder from the Photos app, Textastic is treating it as a binary file and it isn’t importing correctly. The workaround is to export the file from Photos to Folders and then open in Textastic, but it would be nice to be able to import directly again. Thanks, and thanks for the app - I do ALL my web development in it.

Custom extensions from syntax themes and opening all extensions

Hans Schülein 6 years ago in General updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 6 years ago 1

There are quite a few suggestions already concerning this, but none 100% like this:

I installed a new syntax definition via the described process. It theoretically works, however I cannot open any file of that type, even though described in the .tmLanguage file. For this reason Kodex has a switch to open any extension, something Textastic is unable to do. This is really frustrating. I hope both those features (extension from language file, all extensions possible) get implemented. Otherwise custom language syntax is pretty useless.

Feature Request: Choose Default Screen

joncom 6 years ago in General updated 6 years ago 2

I’m almost always editing the same files. So it would be a nicer experience if, when starting up the app, there was an option for it to default to “recent files” instead of “local files”.

To make matters slightly worse, all the files I edit are external, not local, so currently the app likes to show me an empty folder on startup, and then I have to navigate “up” and into “recent files”. Not a big deal, but I have to do it a lot!! Would just make the app more polished I think.

Support for R markdown files (.Rmd)

nosce mantele 6 years ago in General updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 6 years ago 1

Just bought Textastic and it’s looking like it will be quite useful for allowing me to edit code/text files on the go. I just noticed that it does not recognize R markdown files (.Rmd) but it seems to handle these files fine if I change the suffix to .mdown in Dropbox. It’s great that I can edit the files on my iPad but annoying that I have to change the file suffix to do so.

(Also might be nice to have support for bibliography files like .bib)

Folder Search Functionality

Ara Adkins 6 years ago in General updated 6 years ago 2

When opening external folders for editing in Textastic they can contain a lot of different files. It would be great to be able to search within these folders for particular files.

Ideally, this feature would extend to both the 'Local' and 'iCloud' locations as well.

Editing files in iCloud drive

bill obermeyer 7 years ago in General updated by Ara Adkins 6 years ago 5

Have I missed it, or is there no way to edit files on iCloud Drive (except in the Textastic folder)? so much on Macs is now stored/mirrored in iCloud it would be very helpful to edit them in place.
