iCloud compatibility

Lucio Bragagnolo 12 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 11 years ago 7 1 duplicate

iCloud compatibility would be a real boon. I realize that, being Textastic iPad-only, iCloud becomes a sort of Dropbox duplicate. But I like the general idea of compatibility with the main features of iOS and iCloud is for sure one of these. Thanks and kudos for the great job!

GREP search and replace / regular expression / regex

Stephen Jonke 13 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 12 years ago 17 1 duplicate
The existing search and replace is good, but something akin to BBEdit's grep search and replace would be a godsend. You can, for example, search for a pattern, specifying sub-patterns of that pattern, and replace only portions of that match with something else, including portions of the matched text. Etc. It's incredibly powerful and useful. Also, obviously, grep for just the search part would be great too.
Answer
Textastic 4.0 will support regular expression find and replace.

JavaScript debug console

tiptop 13 years ago updated by Nicholas Eveland 4 years ago 40 3 duplicates
It would be really helpful to have a JavaScript debug console when editing HTML files... at the moment, it is impossible to find a problem when using the preview functionality of Textastic.
Answer

Textastic 6.3 adds a new JavaScript console that can show errors in your JavaScript code and allows you to log custom messages using the JavaScript Console object (for example by calling the console.log() method).

SugarSync support

Jeremy Lee James 13 years ago updated by Vincenzo Pascariello 11 years ago 6 4 duplicates
Support for SugarSync would be great. SugarSync is basically DropBox on steroids, and works in certain environments DropBox won't (like in your "home" directory in OSX). Unfortunately, it's not as popular / supported as DropBox. Maybe Textastic could help change that?

Custom syntax definition files

Bars Yazc 14 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 13 years ago 6
would be really great if it would be possible to create custom syntax database for use in special scripts. Example:
I create a new database and under this database I copy/paste or type my functions, expressions, modifiers etc. then I assign them colors and then save the database. Then I load up a script or begin typing and Textastic begins syntax highlighting according to my newly created database.

Import pictures from the "Photos" app

Alexander Blach (Developer) 13 years ago updated 12 years ago 13 5 duplicates
Currently it's not possible to use pictures from the Photos app in Textastic. This would be nice to have when you want to use a picture in a html file.

Allow the user to copy media from the photos app to Textastic.
Answer
The next version will allow you to import pictures from the Photo library.

Multicursor support

jsageryd 10 years ago updated by Eivin Landa 4 years ago 7
A feature I use extensively in Sublime is multi-cursor or 'Multiple Selections' as Sublime calls it. It would be quite a time-saver.

A nice demonstration can be found at https://www.sublimetext.com

Auto-indent TextExpander snippets

Alexander Blach (Developer) 13 years ago updated 13 years ago 0
When you use TextExpander to insert a code snippet with several lines, only the first line is indented correctly. Find a way to indent all lines.

This could also be useful for text that is copied and pasted.

Standalone textastic-style keyboard

Simon Accascina 9 years ago updated by Cloud Cray 3 years ago 6 1 duplicate
Textastic keyboard is awesome. It's fast, accurate and complete at the same time; a must-have for everyone trying to write code con an ipad.

I (and I hope other users too) would really appreciate a "standalone" ios8 textastic keyboard. It will be useful in soo many other apps:  ssh, latex writing, interpreters like pythonista, or just to write some code on a forum or email.

I will gladly pay 2-3 € for something like that :)
