Accessibility with VoiceOver?

EricK 13 years ago updated by Alexander Blach (Developer) 11 years ago 6
Hello,

I teach development and I have a blind student. All of your UI objects are accessible but the text editing area is not. Would you consider making the editing view accessible to VO? The blind community gets the word out when a good accessible app becomes available.

Thanks ,

Voice over is now supported for the main text editor in iOS 6.

This should be easy. But, I didn't think it would make a lot of sense for long source code files. I was probably wrong :)
Great, my blind student has already asked me what I thought about the app and if it was accessible. I told that I already put in a request for full VO support. He was very happy to hear that. He also wondered if it would ever be available for the iPhone. VO can be controlled by a bluetooth keyboard now and using Textastic on an iPad or iPhone would be the exact same for him.
I don't plan to release it for iPhone right now. Maybe in the future.

Hi,

Was the VoiceOver support ever fixed for this editor? I really like its features but would not want to spend the money if the accessibility features have not been addressed.

Can you please let me know?

Thank you.

Best,

Victor

Yes, since iOS 6, Textastic has good voice over support. See http://www.applevis.com/apps/ios/productivity/textastic-–-syntax-highlighting-ftp-sftp-dropbox:

*** UPDATE ***
As of December 8, 2012 this app is accessible on the iPad. I am now able to navigate the text areas as I would any other document in IOS. I wanted to leave the original negative review hear to give credit to the developer for finally making this excellent code writing and management app accessible.
