Unable to save file more than once with autosave disabled

Alberto B. 10 years ago updated 10 years ago 2
On Mac OS X 10.8.5, after disabling the unwanted auto-save feature with
`defaults write com.textasticapp.textastic-mac ApplePersistence -bool no`,
Textastic allows me only to save a file once, then trying to save it again I get the error 'The document “some.txt” could not be saved.'

The error occurs with every file type, independently from the ownership of the file itself.

Hello,

sorry, but this is not supported. Among other things, Textastic requires AutoSave to work properly with iCloud.

What you can do, is enable this setting in System Preferences -> General:

This will ask you if you want to keep your changes when you close a file and allow you to revert the changes.

Don't you think it would be a good idea to give users the option to use Textastic the "plain old way", i.e. save only when and where you want to?
I think that a lot of developers out there will NOT use Textastic only because the auto-save feature is something you expect from a "prose-only" text editor, not from a code editor. This is only my humble opinion indeed.
The app has some very interesting features and is well made, this is why I've happily paid for it, but I think I will not make use  of it anymore because of the saving "issue".

Something that you can expect from every developer out there is the desire of flexibility and personalisation about his/her apps, and Textastic for Mac isn't providing much of them.
