Turning off the highlighting of the current line

I'd liike to be able to turn off the cursor highlight while editing plain text, or configurable based on a file type.

Which highlight do you mean, exactly? The blue vertical cursor that signals the current position in the text? Or the highlighting of the current line?

I am referring to the highlighting of the current line. It's fine for writing code, but can be a distraction when writing an article or a story.
